Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of capturing Shalane’s daughters and niece at their in-home portrait session. I went in thinking I knew what type of photos I wanted, but I quickly realized trying to pose 1, 2, and 4 year old is not easy. Nope.

Photographing them taught me how posing is not a very good option when it comes to kids, and it’s best to let them just be… kids.  Also you have to be prepared to capture the right moments, always anticipating! Having few tricks up your sleeve helps to get them to stay still, laugh (a real kind of laugh), and not look like you’re taking a school yearbook photo. I love capturing real moments! These are real documentary of your life! It’s not always perfect, but it’s real and beautifully your family 🙂
