When deciding on an engagement photoshoot, trying to decide on a location is so important. For Megan and Jeremy, they chose their old Roncesvalle neighbourhood in Toronto. It was perfect for their engagement session as we hung out at their usual places – cafe, laundro-mat, and playing basketball. It was pretty cold, but these two really trooped it out!
Here’s the thing about taking photos in winter time:
-your photographs will appear brighter! and somewhat bit bluer depending on the time of the day. If you still want to capture some warmth, consider 1-2 hours before sunset!
-you need to layers up! Think base layers, hats, gloves, boots!
-find a place where there are indoor options so we can jump in somewhere to thaw.
I love photographs that tell a story about individual people and couples. This photo session was so meaningful because it was about them and where they use to live. It challenges me to use different environments and problem solve visually. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you are not being challenged and all your photos start to look alike. This is why I love exploring new places or seeing the same place from a different perspective.
